The Center for Spiritual Discovery is deeply committed to the principle of Service to others as a pathway to deeper spiritual awakening. Recent scientific research has shown that volunteering also brings significant health benefits.

The Corporation for National and Community Service’s study shows that volunteers have greater longevity, higher functional ability, lower rates of depression and less incidence of heart disease. Volunteering is a beautiful thing. Our Center has many volunteer opportunities for you to experience the reciprocal benefits of service.

Our Service Coordinator Joan Wise would love to help you discover how to make this happen in your life, in a time frame that will work for you. Joan is at jwise@cmcsd.org.

Some of the teams open to receiving your gifts are:

Office Support
The General Office Support Volunteer assists with clerical duties to ensure the smooth running of business processes.   The major responsibilities include answering telephones, making copies, faxing, filing and folding and stuffing brochures and envelopes.

Sunday Service Team:
Load In and Load Out (helping to set up and pack away the backdrop, stage, outside tables & awnings, etc. for our Sunday Services at the Senior Center)

Lighting and stage production experienced crew also needed.

Youth Church:  
Assist Youth & ‘Tween Teachers at Sunday classes

Ushers & Love Ambassadors:
Usher, meet and greet our Sunday Service attendees; assist in preparation and presentation of materials that are distributed to congregants at Services; Assisting in the offerings collection.
Love Ambassadors: meet and greet our Sunday Service attendees before and after services; Assist the New Visitor coordinator with meeting and registration of newcomers to the Center.

Bookstore Team:
Work sales and support at our Sunday morning Open Mind bookstore before and after one service; Assist in the duplication of the CD recording of the Sunday message

Web Design, Print Graphics and Media Team:
We are looking for individuals experienced working Blogs and Forums, My Space, You Tube, SEO, Xhtml, PHP, Dreamweaver, E-commerce, Flash, Photoshop, Camtasia et al; graphic arts; Video editors;

Special Events Team:
Planners, Caterers, publicity, ticket sales, set up and tear down crews are always needed for anyone looking to serve a one time special events.
